Portability: Portability in terms of media language is simply when you can take a electrical product around with you easily with the need of wires and cables. Portable products are normally small, light and compact so they are easy to carry around. An example of a portable media technology is the ipod nano, they are small and compact and are much easier to carry around than the old sony walkmans.
Convergence: Convergence allows all different types of media from radio, televesions programmes, the internet and telephones to all join together to form one information channel. It allows all different types of media to work together globally to share or exchange information. Changes in technology allow us to do this and can process all types of sounds, images and data.
Interactivity : Interactivity is the facility given to people to co-operate with a media text. For example on sky when it gives you the option to press the red button it is allowing you to interact with the television using new technology.
Compatibilty : Compatibilty is when two or more systems can work together and match each other in order to carry out their funtion whilst using the same software or hardware.
Storage : Storage is a place in a computer or memory disk depeding on the media technology where all the data is stored. The data is stored in an electromagnetic form that can be accessed by a computer processor.
Miniaturisation : Miniaturisation is the latest trend in technologies in which they are making media technologies on a much smaller-scale. It started with mechanical devices, then moved on to optical devices being made on a smaller-scale and now the same is being done to electronic devices.
